Eyelash growth မျက်တောင်ရှည်ဆေး

Bimatoprost (ophthalmic solution 0.03% )

-the only FDA-approved product to enhance the growth of eyelashes (in 2001)

-synthetic prostamide analog (prostaglandin ethanolamide)

-In the beginning, it is used in open-angle glaucoma (to reduce elevated intraocular pressure). 

-Later on, it was used to increase eyelash thickness

Mechanism of action 

increase the lash follicles and the duration of anagen phase

Dosage – once daily to the skin of the upper eyelid margin at the base of the eyelashes with eye applicator

Result

After 8 weeks of treatment, bimatoprost can increase overall eyelash thickness 

At week 16, bimatoprost treatment was associated with  25% increase in eyelash length and 106% increase in eyelash thickness with 18% increase in eyelash darkening
